Clinic Policies

To ensure our clinic operates efficiently and continues to provide the highest quality care, we have several important policies in place. These include requirements for current rabies vaccinations, adherence to our cancellation/no-show policy, and up-to-date wellness exams for certain services such as prescription refills, treatments, and procedures.

Rabies Vaccination Requirement

Rabies is a deadly viral disease that claims the life of one person every ten minutes worldwide. In compliance with Oregon state law, all dogs over four months of age must be current on their rabies vaccination to be seen at our clinic.  Cats are not currently required by Oregon state law to be vaccinated, but there are quarantine requirements that exist if a cat were to bite a human.  Here at Animal Clinic of Rogue River, we do require our feline patients to be vaccinated with rabies vaccine for the health and safety of the feline, the staff, and other pets and humans the feline comes into contact with.

Unvaccinated pets that come into contact with a rabid animal may be subject to strict quarantine protocols—up to four months—or may be euthanized, per legal requirements. This policy is in place to protect your pets, our staff, and our community, while ensuring we remain compliant with state regulations.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

Due to increasing demand for appointments and the impact of late cancellations, the Animal Clinic of Rogue River may require prepayment when booking exams or recheck visits.

Please review our cancellation guidelines:

  • Prepaid appointments canceled at least 48 hours (2 business days) in advance will be refunded or credited to your account.
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of the prepayment and will require a new prepayment to reschedule.
  • No-shows without prepayment will incur a $25 fee per missed appointment, added to your account.
  • Cancelled appointments can be rescheduled based on availability, but may result in delays.
  • Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may lead to dismissal from our practice, at the doctor’s discretion.

Annual Wellness Exam Requirement

To provide safe and comprehensive care, and to comply with Oregon state law, all patients must have a current wellness exam within the last 12 months before receiving any treatment. This includes prescription refills on medications or preventives, treatments, procedures, and anesthesia.

The Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board also requires a physical exam when pets present with new medical concerns, prior to euthanasia, and before any sedation or anesthetic procedure. Routine wellness exams allow us to monitor your pet’s health closely and ensure we’re delivering the safest and most effective care possible.
